The Phylmar Group, Inc. designed a computer-based industrial hygiene strategic planning and data management system for an earth resources company to assist health and safety professionals in estimating human resource and capital requirements necessary for conducting exposure assessment and prioritizing engineering control applications. SEEAPT® optimizes allocation of resources and assists managers with strategic planning decisions. In addition, the system also includes an exposure data management module that provides 20 standard reports for tracking exposures of individual employees, similar exposure groups, facility locations, agents, and tasks. The module includes a variety …
The Phylmar Group, Inc.
The Phylmar Group, Inc. designed and conducted several statistically based exposure monitoring programs for the utility, mining, chemical, and automotive industries to evaluate worker exposures to metals, asbestos, noise, and solvents. These evaluations were performed to assess compliance with occupational health regulations and, where appropriate, California’s Proposition 65. In one example, a client who manufactured brake shoes wanted to assess employee exposure to asbestos that had collected on various building surfaces as the result of prior use of the fiber in production. The objective of the evaluation …
Mold Evaluations for Leased Modular Units across U.S.
Perform ongoing mold evaluations of modular units throughout North America for a leasing organization. Phylmar deploys local affiliates to efficiently deliver evaluations to assess water damage/moisture measurements and the visual presence of mold. Additional air and surface mold sampling is conducted when indicated. Remediation services are provided when necessary. A standardized assessment form is used to collect basic building information (year built, layout, modifications etc.), background data, visual observation results, sample results, and conclusions and recommendations. Remediation work plans are used to ensure …

CSC’s industrial hygienists conducted microbial investigation at a major school district in southern California. Apparently, the district uses modular units for classrooms, which were placed directly on soil. Few teachers, as well as some parents, complained of more than usual sickness and upper respiratory discomfort.
Our investigation included a visual, as well as, analytical sampling for laboratory analysis. The sampling was conducted over a week period, which included two episodes of the sampling in a day; mornings and afternoons. The results revealed no unusual mold spore counts, when indoor concentrations were …

Clark Seif Clark, Inc.
During the construction/renovation of the Arts Center of a major Southern California University, the interior of two buildings was flooded by rainwater. One building was completely vacant and the other was partially open for students. The contractor was unaware of the damage that water may cause, so he proceeded with construction without issuing proper drying of affected areas. Consequently, the water damage caused severe mold growth on all newly placed drywall material, as well as, existing plaster/drywall product, vinyl floors, and structural wood members. Clark Seif Clark, …

A government entity chose CSC for this very high profile project, as the environmental consultant. This massive site was a former army barracks. It is now being converted to buildings that will be leased to private businesses; among them, a non-profit Digital Art Center.
Former laboratories, hospitals, and steam tunnels will have to be remediated to public safety standards. All buildings contain hazardous levels of asbestos, lead-based paint, and other contaminants. It is the task of Clark Seif Clark, Inc. to support The Presidio Trust in renovating the …

CSC provides a leading Insurance Group with environmental consulting services on several projects including microbial investigations, microbial remediation consulting, and asbestos and lead-based paint consulting services. The largest of these projects included a microbial investigation of a 10,000 sq. ft. space in downtown Sacramento which had a large sewage leak which caused a significant amount of microbial contamination and damage to existing asbestos containing materials and lead-based paint within the building. CSC designed a microbial contamination clean up and asbestos / lead-based paint abatement project for the …
